The Colors of Emotion
An extensive tome written by an enchantress based on the colors of emotion, as seen in creatures that display such as d'jini (fur color), sarka and leviathans (eye color), etc, as well as visual empaths.
There exists in all of us a beautiful range of color unrelated to what we traditionally think of as an aura. This is most commonly displayed in creatures that use colors to show their emotions, such as the sarka and leviathans through the hues of their eyes, or the fur color of the proud d'jini cloudcats. It has also been recorded that unique animalistic races may display markings that display emotions in these colors, though this has been theorized to have been magical fluke more than any species trait.
However, it has also been noted that a few select individuals - such as the author of this book - may see these emotions as colors surrounding someone in flashes or glows, with the intensity shown varying based on the strength of the feeling or feelings in question. Colors may sometimes mix and match, appearing to swirl and change if a person has conflicting feelings or a wash of emotion. Those with chaotic energies are known to be especially 'bright' to those with the vision, as well as those experiencing very strong emotions. Those who may see this are often referred to as 'visual empaths'.
For species who display their emotions through eye color, it is thought that their irises are semi-transparent with a layer much like very thin glass. Where traditional eye color is dictated by the amount of pigment in the iris, these have special membrane reactive to changes in their reiatsu that display emotional colors. In species that display colors of emotion on their bodies, this is shown through clear hair follicles, multi-layered hide, glasslike feathers, or translucent scales that operate similar to the eyes described above.
The colors of the emotional range are dictated by a portion of one's spirit that fuels feeling. Therefore, those who cannot feel emotions appear blank to a visual empath, and those who display them bodily show no color whatsoever in their eyes or on their hides. Little is known about the energies that produce color, though the hues are the same regardless of species or race.
