Hello and welcome to our NPC groups page! These are families, clans, houses, etc that are canon to the BTACD universe but aren’t owned by any specific member. You are free to make members of these NPC groups, but please be aware some might be claimable by members and are thus subject to minor changes.

Flamehearts
Initial Concept: Flamehearts; fire dragons with extreme heat to their flames, bright colors, and extravagant frills - mostly soldiers, but possibly mixed in occupation and Very old
Probably proud and rather arrogant of their family’s age and accomplishments? Open to interpretation and edits once claimed!
Frogmouths
Initial Concept: Frogmouths; amphibious dragons with froglike features, specialize in alchemy. migratory, often settles for weeks at a time in waterways, though nest in swamps
Possibly alters eggs with magic they have with other outside dragons to better suit their lifestyle? Open to interpretation and edits once claimed!
Luminous Arbiters
Initial Concept: Luminous Arbiters; Aethyrian Luxia dragons that seek justice - darker base colors than most Luxians but have bioluminescent markings, sun markings, and lots of feathered accents. Arrogant, proud, and (somewhat) more biased than they should be, but mostly fair in their dealings with the court and justice systems of Aethyr. Located in the Heartlands, though not in Aethyra.

Prismwings
Initial Concept: Prismwings; clan of dragons that specialize in emotional magic/emotional manipulation, known for their beautiful rainbow colors most often found in their wings
Probably can have any gradient of colors to their wings, maybe split off from the Iridians years ago? Open to edits once claimed!
Stormcrests
Initial Concept: Stormcrests; fully feathered lightning and storm dragons who inevitably have feathered crests or frills of some kind, possibly with a focus on aerial acrobatics and offering their speedy services as scouts for the crown

Strygarysen
Initial Concept: Western and wyvern dragons, most commonly utilizing magic surrounding crystals (manipulation, growth, energy storing, enchanting, etc) and light. Small, elusive, and native to the Crystalline Silza in Ca'riryiiw. Their traits are:
- markings similar to stained glass (usually sharp in shape with dark outer outlines, light inner outlines, and colorful gradients)
- translucent wings and frills
- extremely glossy scales and webbing that appears as though they are coated in glass
- may carry a hatching defect where scales and webbing are actually colorless, making the dragon appear literally covered in glass; wing web is almost entirely see-through, very fragile, and hide is visible under any scales and plates
- name means 'glass winged' in Draconic
Twin Peaks
Initial Concept: An old Glacia House that recently added Ignia to its bloodlines, named after the twin row of dorsal spikes almost all of its members has. More information can be seen here.

The Unbound
Initial Concept: The Unbound; heavily mixed family that includes a lot of hybrids and variants, but has exceptionally strong melanistic genes that almost inevitably turn their born-in members' scales black - spy and reconnaissance family that live in as much mystery as Song
Probably very secretive about where they’re based especially. Gets rid of non melanistic members? Open to changes once claimed!
Unclaimable Groups
These are NPC Groups that are staff-run, and cannot be claimed. Most are free to make characters for however!
Dawnfeather
About: A large noble family of mostly Aeria-aligned Aethyrian dragons, though recently mixed with multiple other elements. Known for their great use of magic, their warm colors, broad feathered wings, the feather fans around their eyes, and their luminous markings. They reside in the mage's Tower of the city of Dawnfeather in the Heartlands.
Currently, Nether-aligned elements are very rare, as Dawnfeather is immensely wary of 'dark' dragons. However, all Aether-aligned elements are common, and they have begun hesitantly branching out as their city grows and their knowledge of Aethyr's magic expands.
Jewelscales
About: Jewelscales; a family of very wealthy gemdrakes and gemdrake hybrids who craft jewelry from their shed gemscales and grow gems of various types in magical gardens, located far east in the Darklight mountain range. Many have the unique ability of force-changing their colors and gemscales, as well as their base magic, by eating elementally-charged gemstones.
Remember: any gemdrake-blooded individual in this family needs the gemdrake item from the shop!
Sunchasers
About: The former Line of Stewards that served the royal Felnovian bloodline for thousands of years, largely wiped out and their mainline decimated by attempting to hold the royal bond together for so long. They have only a handful of remaining members, though their numbers are steadily increasing decade by decade. Currently found only living in Vystriana.
These dragons are light-aligned, pale yellows, golds and oranges as their base colors accented by stripe markings and sunset colored secondaries. They have large horns and expressive frills, can be metallic, and have 'starry' markings as a common trait.
Thunderborne
About: A line of lightning dragons known for their blue scales, thick manes, and silver, gold and black accents. Elevated to a noble family when Narath was mated to Queen Verridith, the Thunderborne is a somewhat mysterious family living in the Darklight Mountains, appearing to wayward travelers to guide or protect them from the mountains' many dangers. They are oft called the storm guardians, and can be seen in flashes of blues and golds amid strong lightning storms, racing the thunder.
Non-lightning members and multiple-element members are uncommon, but found frequently on the edges of the family. Most are very strong with lightning as a primary, and the vast majority have blue base scales and gold markings, though silver and black are also featured prominently. Every member has a mane that stretches from brow to tail, and most have other fur accents across their bodies.
